Sensible Oregon announces a new effort to reform marijuana laws in the state of Oregon

July 5th, 2011

Sensible Oregon begins petitioning with a preliminary petition seeking the 1000 valid signatures necessary to receive the ballot title for the actual petition.

Fellow Cannabis Activist,

The time has come to gather every resource across the nation in preparation to launch a 2012 multi-state national initiative campaign to remove all existing civil and criminal penalties for adults twenty one years of age who cultivate, possess, transport, sell, or use marijuana. We need to do this without impacting existing laws proscribing dangerous activities while under the influence of marijuana or certain conduct that exposes younger persons to marijuana with each state regulating access through their individual legislative process.

We are Sensible Oregon, a group made up of multiple organizations dedicated to ending adult marijuana prohibition in 2012. We reach out to you and your organizations in an effort to form the largest citizen activist lobbying group ever - Sensible America.

An astonishing 70,000 to 80,000 militarized police raids take place on a annual basis in America, many of them on mistaken suspects and many of them ending with injury or death for police and citizens alike.

"Those who profess to favor freedom, yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." ~Frederick Douglass
